A satisfying turn around in this rear garden

The final piece for the garden. With the fences installed and a new patio completed, the turf was looking a little worse for wear.

A full renovation was needed. We removed the old grass, rotavated the entire lab and brought in 5 tonnes of fresh top soil to dress the area.

Then the satisfying part of giving life to the garden with the new turf, using the premium grass makes for a nicer finish and guarantee for a nicer lawn

This particular customer wanted a bed cut out of the turf for future planting which is a great way to bring more colour and biodiversity into a garden.

First landscaping project of the season and a great start

We transformed a sloped garden into a clean, usable space by creating a raised lawn, retained with solid sleeper work and supported internally. We brought in 6 tonnes of fresh topsoil to give the new turf the best possible start

To manage the height change, we installed a slatted batten fence for added privacy and a modern finish. A new pathway gives access to the shed, with a fresh lawn area and raised sleeper bed ready for planting.

The main patio was laid in grey sandstone using four sizes, which really opens up the space and makes the garden feel bigger. Finished off with a dark resin grout for a sharp, long-lasting look.

Out the front, we gave the space a much-needed upgrade. Now a tidy and practical area for bin storage, with a new pathway to the door, framed with a block paving border, and a dedicated patio area. We used a symmetrical slab pattern here which suits the space perfectly.

We removed a large overgrown hedge that was sitting on a failing brick wall. Once cleared, the wall collapsed as it had been held together by the hedge roots.

Our team removed the debris, broke through the existing footing, and installed a new 6ft Durapost fencing system to create a strong, long lasting boundary.

The result is a clean, secure finish that has opened up significant usable space and completely transformed the frontage.

And best of all… the little doggy now has their space back to run around safely 🐶

Completing 2 jobs for the end of the week. 1 being a new chestnut pale fence replaced like for like and an extension to a patio choosing the closest matching slabs as possible. Using old reclaimed rail way sleepers as a retaining wall and cementing in new slabs and finishing off the path with a Cotswold buff stone path and edging.

A nice, quiet parking spot for an Airbnb perfect for guests looking for an easy arrival and a secure place to park.

We started by cutting out part of the hedge to open up the space, then built up the ground to create a level area using around 10 tonnes of granite MOT Type 1. Once the base was solid, we set sleepers in place to form a neat border and rounded the edges off with a planer for a smooth finish.

Two new gates were added for security, along with another in the existing fence for access to the property. We finished everything with a matching 10mm shingle to tie it all together.

A lovely little project that’s already being enjoyed by happy guests and a very happy customer too.

From old to new

Transforming this entrance of a customer to a usable drive with an extension to turn around in.
We straightened up the drive with the garage and the entrance and levelled it all the way to the pad at the bottom. After the dig out we added the shape to the drive with cementing in concrete edging to the exact measurements of the blocks to reduce waste and time. Once set we brought up the levels of the subbase to fit and compacted it. Instead of using laying sand we opted for a granite laying level. I've been using it for a few years now and fine it holds driveways better against time and movement. It's satisfying to lay and doesn't move much once down.
We laid the 70m2 of the paving in a day, once all was laid we cut in the areas that needed it.
To add security we have added a 12ft gate across and some post and rail fencing. All finished off with a bringing up the sides with fresh topsoil and landscaping to the area.

Barn Interior Conversion

We recently converted two old barns into clean, practical spaces tailored for livery use.

The project involved lining all internal walls with OSB to tidy up exposed blockwork and framework, creating a uniform and durable finish throughout.

In the first barn, we built a solid timber shop front with a large opening, and installed new doors and windows to improve privacy, insulation, and security.

In the second barn, we continued the OSB lining and constructed a separate storage room to add practical value to the space.

Both barns were fully fitted with new lighting and new roller shutter for secure, convenient access.

This conversion has given previously underused buildings a fresh new purpose while maintaining their original structure and character.

A recent patio project completed in challenging conditions all done by hand in extreme heat, with no access for machinery.

The job began by levelling the top section of the garden and digging in the sleepers, which were then cemented into place. On the right side, I built a three-tier planter that connects seamlessly to the patio level, filled with fresh topsoil and ready for planting. A water feature was added, along with a stepping stone path leading up to the patio.

On the left, another three-tiered planter was constructed with a corner section specially designed for a cherry tree. A lot of hard work went into this one, but the transformation made it all worth it.

Finished off with a a nice 2.4mx2.4m patio with an infil of stone to create a larger patio are and then added this pergola for a great bit of shade in this never ending heat wave.

Restoring this bench at the church in Gestingthorpe was a peaceful change of pace from the larger, more demanding projects this year.

It had clearly been sitting untouched for quite some time and in need of attention. I started by sanding it back thoroughly to find the oak beneath still in great condition. After a heavy prep I followed with a finer sanding to smooth the surface and bring out the natural grain.

The slats were removed, planed flat to remove the cupping and aging, then flipped to give them a cleaner, refreshed look. Three coats of dark oak stain were applied across the whole bench to deepen the colour and bring richness back to the wood, followed by a final light sand and finishing coat for durability and sheen.

It was the kind of job that lets you slow down and work with your hands and enjoy the process, there was no rush or noise around just fresh air and good vibes and the satisfaction of bringing something meaningful back to life.

Sometimes it's these smaller quieter projects that leave the biggest impression.

After a scorching week (and a battle with hayfever 🤧), we gave this long-term project the transformation it deserved!

✅ Installed a sleek new fence and two bespoke gates with @durapost_uk for a smart entrance.
✅ Dug out and laid a beautiful grey sandstone patio — perfect for summer evenings.
✅ Levelled the top garden area ready for future turfing.

We transformed this tired garden into a fresh, low-maintenance outdoor space with a clean and modern look.

The entire area was carefully levelled from top to bottom, allowing us to create a stunning three-tiered garden that balances functionality with aesthetics. At the top, we built raised flower beds alongside a perfectly flat, lush new lawn. At the bottom, we created a spacious social area using a mix of textured natural stone slabs for a visually striking finish.

A bespoke pergola was constructed over half the patio to provide future shade and add structure and character to the space.

We also made use of an unused side passage by constructing a custom-built garden shed. Reusing the original slabs as a base, we designed a tailored entrance and finished it with a shingled roof for added durability and charm.

This was a fantastic project to complete — and most importantly, we left behind a very happy customer.

A huge transformation in this garden for a nice and easy minimal maintenance area.
Installing a long split planter at the rear. Ready for climbers in the rear bed and smaller plants in the front, adding with a side veg garden.
We cleared the shingle out to then add a solid subbase.
Finishing off with a premium 38mm pile of artifical grass.
To crest some screening, we added 3 bays of Diamond trellis to split the garden and the shed space for a cleaner feel in the garden.

Installed a closer fence around 3 side of a garden using @durapost_uk posts. I like to put on an extra thick heavy duty gravel board for extra protection. Adding 3 rails and finishing of with 5.5ft featheredge for a nice solid 6ft fence. No more looking over the fence now.

Finishing up a cold week with a lovely fry up.

Remove all old wooden fence and replaced with a lovely new closboard fence.
Using @durapost_uk galvanised metal posts and timber from @mwnicefencingltd.
We had to remove the wall to create access to the garden, we then framed the opening and installed a bespoke toungue and Grove gate.

A really happy customer and 2 full bellies.

A huge face lift on this barn

On the outside we extended the external wall with a single course block wall and adding a timber frame matching into the existing walls. Adding 3 stable windows for added light, thanks to @monarchequestrianstables for supplying them. We added wheatheboard on all sides and finished off with a new coat of paint.

On the inside of the internal walls insulating and boarding the wall. To finish off we created a strong panel wall to keep in keeping with the stables.

Finished it all with new black fascia.

A very happy customer and a great step in our journey.

Finishing a wet and windy week with some pet proofing using double slatted KDM panels and duraposts. No dogs will be escaping now.

I'm really proud of this project turn out. From the dig out to the final finish.
Over 3 weeks working around this wonderful British weather, we cleared the site and dug out an area for a nice final garden level. I enjoyed the challenge of the garden levels here. Staring by bringing down the top level of the garden and retaining it with some wooden sleepers. The footings were put in for the wall and using tumbled cobbled blocks for a nice rustic finish. I created a curved wall and steps. This was a challenge as the blocks were pretty heavy. Thank God for the wheatbix in the morning.
The laying of the patio was a pleasure. Having prepped the subbase with a 1 in 80 fall to the garden, there is no standing water with this abundance of rain we are having. Finishing the patio off with a carbon resin grout to compliment it.
All the hard work is out the way, and all that is left is the fencing and levelling of the soil. We put 2 fences up, the top closeboard fence for privacy, and the bottom baton fence for a beautiful seating area. We used metal posts with timber insets to attach a black out membrane for more privacy. Then screwed in plained batons for a bespoke finish. A little time lapse of the process was fun.
Installing this allimunim pergola was fun an really complements the area and the furniture was a great accessory to finish this area off
All is left is to level the garden. There were dips all over the garden, so with the excess soil we dug out we level the bottom area and seeded with some premium grass seen. For the top this was something new for me, a thyme lawn. Planting hundred of small plants for a more sustainable and bug friendly area.

I'm really proud of this one.

I've been working up to a full garden renovation for a while and the opportunity to fully build this garden from top to bottom.

Started out with a large dig out of the whole garden and moving the fence over to extend the path way. I built up the frame around the entire garden and the raised patio. Finishing them off with a routered edge for looks but to also stop and young children from catching them selves on them. Built up all the area with type 1 MOT that were going to have slabs laid on them. Once the slabs we're laid and jointed, it was time to finish the garden starting with adding a new allimunim pergola with an opening top and new garden furniture to match. Then laying new turf on fresh top soil.

A really pleasure to complete.

A quick transformation of a rear garden in Clare to make it safer for the customer young children. Next step is to add some picket to protect from falling.

One was replacing an old rotten gate barely hanging on for life.
The other one was making a new entrance to a rear garden for better access.
And done by 2.30pm on a Friday. Winning!!

A nice change up from working outside on this wet and windy week.

Started off by sheeting the ceiling in a garage and adding baton along the joints to make for a nicer finish. Then added an access hatch to get in to the loft.

There was little access to the loft of this house, so I added in a spring-loaded loft ladder for acces into the attic. I then insulated the whole attic with 200mm of knauf insulation. Once done I added a 300mm raised storage area with a lip around the edge to stop items falling off then another raised area between the extension and the old house.

A great week but damn I'm itchy.

Just wrapped up putting this post and rail fence in for a repeat customer (always the a nice boost in confidence)
